  1. The Frosty Freeze can really be considered a place that is essential to cultural survival, like we've been talking about in class. People go there all the time to hang out and eat ice cream, or dinner, or drink coffee. It's a great place for social gatherings and really captures the essence of Big Timber's community. I think that this picture is a great representation of how this restaurant is essential to our cultural survival.

  2. The Freeze is a part of our towns history, its part of a routine. Some people are there everyday getting coffee, same place, same time. It is just like what we have been saying in class, it is essential to cultural survival. It is a fun place to go and hang out with friends no matter what the occasion or day.

  3. I agree with Melanie, it is a great representation of how this restaurant is essential to our culture survival. It has its own homey feel to it and makes it the perfect place for people to go to for food and to feel at ease.

  4. The Frosty is in a way kind of like the Crazy Mountians, its always been in our town and hopefully will be for many years. Even the people who dont go and eat there, they still knowtice that its there and they probably drive passed it every day. It may not be a 5 star resturant but it is to us in this town.

  7. Like what Melanie said the Frosty Freeze is a place where a lot of people go to hang out and have something to drink or eat. I go there a lot to get something to eat or just to talk with the people I know. Its a good place to go and get something good to eat after a football game. I go there when we have friends from out of state who come here to hunt during the fall. The place is very important to the people of Big Timber because they have gone there to eat lunch for a long time.

  8. This place doesn't exactly fit my personal idea of a "Sacred" place but it is definately a cultural gathering point of Big Timber. People have gone their for family dinners as well as just a place to hang out for as long as I've been around. One of the major reasons that this place has gained such a reputation in Big Timber is mostly due to the time that it's been here. I'm nor sure for certain on how long it's been here but it's been here since atleast my dad was a kid. And that was 40-some-odd years ago. Basically this place has great cultural signifigance as well as many memories that I'm sure are sacred to someone.

  9. The freeze is historical to the comunity becouse it provides jobs and food to people who need it. It has been here for a long time and is part of the comunity if we never had a fast food joint here this place may never be like it is now. Every allways chills thier it like the place to be.

  10. I agree with Melanie about it being a place for the community to gather as well as talk and converse. Many people go their simply for the "atmosphere" as well as the fact that it's a place of comfort to many people. I also agree that without the Freeze many people would, mostly the older people, would suffer a great loss and great opportunities to shasre stories in the mornings. Without those stories I don't think the town would be as close as it is or as interesting. People just wouldn't talk and wouldn't share and the town would be less and less exciting.

  11. The Freeze.... Nice its probably one of the most important places in town, because eveybody goes there. This is a sacred place, becuase it is a place essential to cultural survival. People go there every day and drink coffee, eat ice cream, dinner, and lunch. If you are from this town and do not know what the freeze is then you are definetly missing out. The Freeze is a historical site because it has been in this town for quite a while and it will still be there when I leave, I hope it is.

  12. the Freeze has been in this town for a very long time, it is part of our towns history. It is part of peoples routine. Some people go there all the time, or just a view times, but it is still something that everyone does in this town. I bet that if you go around and ask people. i bet everyone has gone there at least once.People who go there every day or just a view times it is still part of what they do. Some people go there at the same time, get the same thing, sit in the same sport, that makes it even more of a routine. It is like what we have been talking about in class, and writing about. It is a part of peoples past. present, and future.

  13. agree with Melanie, Brandon, and mostly everyone else. It is a place for the community to gather, talk and enjoy a meal. I also think that without the Freeze many people would, would suffer a a lot and great times to share stories, and hang out, but mostly the old people would miss it because they have been around long so it is more of a routine for them then it is for the younger ones, like me. I would still feel weird if the freeze wasn't here, like most everyone else would.

  14. I agree with Brandon's post. The Freeze has great cultural significance, but maybe isn't to be considered 'sacred'. I might go as far as to say it's essential for cultural survival, as we learned in class, but not necessarily sacred. To me, sacred is something a lot specialer than a restaurant. Nothing specific happened there that would make it sacred to me, but I can understand why it might be sacred to others, considering it's background and longevity, as Brandon pointed out.

  15. The Frosty Freeze is a part of our town's history. It has been around for quite a while and is a place for the members of our community to just sit around and drink coffee. It is a place that is essential to cultural survival because it is such a huge part of the routines that many community members go through. I even have friends from other towns that know what the Freeze is and always want to go there when they are in town. Even to them, it is a place that they instantly think of when they think of Big Timber.

  16. I agree with Brandon that the Freeze is a place that people go simply for the atmosphere. This is one thing that makes a place sacred. When a place becomes more than just what it appears, you can be sure that it is sacred. The Frosty Freeze may just be a restaurant to some people, but to the majority of Big Timber, it is a routine. From people going out to a family dinner or just eating ice cream, it is a place essential to all age groups. It helps people to converse with other people and to catch up on the latest gossip. It also provides people with a place to be if they are bored or hungry. Its presence is one that has been around for a while and will continue to be around in the future.

  17. I would have to agree with everyone that has wrote about the Freeze thus far. It is a cultural gathering and the place to be. Every goes there and they will always go there. The Freeze is a place to go talk, drink coffee, and hang out.

  18. The Freeze is definetly a part of our towns history. I think that it could be considered an essential to cultural survival! There are some people that go there everyday and usually at the same time. So many people go there for many different reason. I think that the Freeze will be part of the history of Big Timber for a very long time!

I agree with Austin when he says that he agrees with everyone because it is very true. People will continue to go there and do the same old. All the coffee drinkers and the high schoolers that go there for food but spend forever in there for various reasons.

  19. The frezze, the best place in town. cheap, fast, and yummy. It not just a place for my group to hang out its a place for all ages. If you think about how long its been around over the years think about how much the conversations people have has changed from fifty years ago. I think about if this sacred place closed down how much let down the town would be. Just like prospectors closed.

  20. When i see this picture, I think of the old guys who sit in the corner and drink coffee almost everyday. Having been arond them since i was just a little one, I have seen them age, just as they have seen me grow up. These men may not know you very well, but they make it their business to know who you are. This has developed our town's culture to be what it is. These men are the same old guys coming to basketball and football games, and are reading the newspaper. They create stability of our town's culture.

  21. The Frosty Freeze is a huge importance to this community. People go there to hang out all of the time. It also has very good food. it is important to me because it's where i first started to meet with my navy recruiter to start my career. the frosty freeze is a good place for friends to chill and hang out.

  22. I agree with Austin,
The Freeze will remain a constant within our community. The coffee drinkers will continue to be there, even if they aren't the same ones are before, but just replaced by new ones. Kids will still be heading there for shakes after school. If the freeze closed our community will slowly fall apart, unitll nobody knows anyone anymore...

  23. The Frosty Freeze, other wise know as small town "Gossip Central." But I'm sure it's that way in every town. My mom told me it's been that way for years, she even worked there for a while when she was young. Pretty crazy. But it's essential to this town, without the freeze we woul have no chance to get even remotely fast food in this town.

  24. kinda in response to several people along the routine line there are several people who go there everyday and the few days that they are closed people are always complaining about how they don't have anywhere to go in the morning for coffee
