This is a beautifull picture. It reminds me of a trip when i whent into the crazys. It was fun i caught fish hicked around and found new swimming holes. Everyone should go their sometime in their life time its so peace full and pretty when it gets warmer. Its also fun to snomobile their becouse of all the snow. One of thies days il go back their.
Awwwwhhh Sacred Places....this reminds me of the crazies. My family's ranch is at the foothills of the Crazies, so i get to see them everyday upclose. Everytime i drive i love the feeling a person gets as they become bigger as you get closer. I am still amazed how they appear a certain way, yet when a person gets up close, and actually in them it feels totally different. It makes me think about why my family moved here so long ago, and what did they think and feel about them when they came here. However sacred this place may be, it varies on the person. Our town looks at the Crazies everyday. Thier eyes are telling them its there, but do they really see??
Reply to ME Big Baller, haha....(at least you spell your name right.. haha)... I totally agree with you with the Crazies being so peaceful, it seems like time stops, and nothing in the real world actually matters. How inspiring they can be, its also great that a person can have fun, and enjoy all that it is. Its great not to be caught up in life, yet it all comes together some way or anyother....
The crazies are a sacred place for sure. I fell so grateful to live in a town with a view out of my livingroom room window like this. I believe it is sacred because of the story that are behind them. i do believe-but not sure- that their are two different stories about the crazies that made it more sacred and gave the crazies there name. i also think its crazy how they just kinda of in the middle of no where, i mean they just are there with no other mountain around....special.
The Mountains, the place were i call home. I have a view like this out my front big windows. I love looking at the mountains. They are so pretty can comforting, and graceful. I have got to ride my house through those mountains a few times with my family and i loved it. It was so peaceful and nice up there. Like we were the only things on the earth.
I agree with what Miranda said about them have stories behind them. I also liked how she said that they were sacred, and how there are just kind of in the middle of know where, that they are special. I also liked what ettje said about all the feelings they can give you. How the real world had nothing that really matters, but yet it all comes together.
I love the Crazies! Its so nice to live in a place where you get the joy of seeing them everyday, and living in a place thats surrounded by beautiful mountains. This is a sacred place for sure! i have this view from my dinning room window and my back deck. Its amazing to watch the sunsets in the summer time. The mountains are something we will always have for a view!
I agree with everyone because they are special and have stories behind them and i like how Lizz called them home because to us they are home. I agree that they are peaceful and you do feel like your the only one when you get way up in them..
To me these mountains seem majestic, well most mountains do that to me. I always wonder when I look at them how they got there and why. They remind me of the Rockies Mountains. I definitely think that they are sacred because they bring new elements and adventures every time a person goes to hike or just travel in them, even when a person looks at them they see something new, something undiscovered.
I also agree with everyone else that the mountains are special and have some sort of stories that go with them. When ever I have traveled somewhere where to me there are no mountains only hills, I begin to realize that mountains are like a safe haven for me, a place to call home and help me think....
The Crazies are a sacred place to me because they are a refuge. They are always so peaceful looking and I was raised right next to them and moved cows on them. I have spent so much time around them that they are a huge part of my life. They are sacred because of all of the memories that they hold for me o events that have happened there. This picture is so beautiful and shows the majesty that the mountains hold.
I like how Ettje talked about how people in our town take the Crazies for granted. A lot of people in our town don't even think about how amazing our view is and how close they are to a sacred place. One interesting thing about sacred places is that they aren't sacred to everyone. Everyone has different sacred places, which only makes them more sacred to the individual. The Crazies are definitely a sacred place to me, yet to other people without the same experiences, they might not be sacred.
this picture reminds me of some of the places that i've been to. it reminds of the time i went to alaska and saw a whole bunch of different mountain ranges in alaska. like what katie said also that people don't see the importance of the view we have been given for the town.like what i was saying up in alaska i got to see a whole bunch of different mountain ranges which is one of the most important things that i remember from my trip to alaska.
This picture reminds me of home. When I come home from Billings or Bozeman or some other state, I can see these mountains and I know I am almost home! These mountains are also a sacred object or place to me because they also remind me of my grandpa who takes pictures of these mountains and sells them to people who admire their beauty.
There are so many things that can be said about this picture. People are going to perceve the Crazy Mountians diffrently. Some poeple just see them as a regular senery and not take the time to knowtice how absolutly beautiful they are. Others like people who live in Big Timber wake up every morning and the crazies are always in there same spot, still emitting their beauty. For most of us its a sign of home and is almost sacred to us in our own way
The crazies go along really well with the sacred place theme that we've been discussing in class. They are a sacred place to me because I've always grown up being able to see them. They are like a place of comfort; seeing them reminds me of home, no matter if it is just in a painting, or out a car window. I've never actually been up in the crazies, only seen them, but they still have a lot of sacred meaning to me. Besides that, they are so beautiful I can't help but fill with happiness when I look at them! That's why the crazies are sacred to me.
I agree with Katie that the Crazies feel sacred because of memories. It's like I've associated them with familiarity, and that with home, so they make me think of home whenever I see them. Although I haven't been on them, like Katie has, they still hold meaning and memories for me. I also agree that this specific picture really shows their majesty well.
I agree with Melanie that the crazies are sacred to people in Big Timber. They are one of the fist things I see when I drive to school and the last when i get back. Becides the fact that they are very majestic in a way, its a confort sight to alot of people because it represents our home. As Dorthy once said theres no place like home.
The Crazies are definately viewed as a symbolic natural sorrounding of most of Montana, but I'm not so sure about the "Sacred-ness". I've been looking at those mountains for nearly 17 years and I'm still not entirely sure that they're sacred in my mind. They're definately beautiful and definately an awe-inspiring sight and I do know that there's probably some sort of spiritual native tale or something about it that would describes it's sacredness. I guess I'm just not that close to nature and the what not. Technology is mostly what I know, but all in all I think it's a nice picture and certainly has some sort of cultural signifigance to it to someone somewhere. That someone just isn't me.
I agree with Ashley because I think that a lot of people generally pass by the mountains and just assume that they're their and that they're just mountains. They usually don't see the beauty that they have and what they mean to a lot of people. I know several people who have actually moved to Montana just for the mountains and the scenery. Ashley's got a point when she says that they're beautiful. Oh and P.S. Ashley, I'm giving you a C+ for spelling this time =).
The Crazies are one of the most sacred places to me, because they are a place that I can go to and spend time and not see a single soul in the world. They represent more then just history in my eyes. They represent freedom and care free wonders. Every time I go up that mountian, I am as far away as I can be from civiliazation. The Crazies represent some thing to Big Timber and are sacred to Big Timber as well. They are Big Timbers mountians and everybody who lives here has looked at them more than one in their lifetime and they will always remember them.
I agree with Lizz. The Crazies are like a second home to me because of how much time I spend up there. Every weekend I go take a hike just to see something new. They are the best place to go to, because you never know what you are going to see and hear. That is why it is a sacred place to me
