This picture is harder to decipher for me than the others have been. What I first noticed about it was the name: "Quiet Harmony". This seems an interesting choose to me, because the picture itself seems to be just a jumble of thigs placed together. But isn't that what everything is, really? In Greek mythology, everything formed from Chaos, and only through Chaos did the world reach Harmony. That seems to be true for all cultures. Everything comes together to form something, random, and beautiful in its own way.
This picture is really creative. I dont under stand what it is supposed to be or what its supposed to mean. I agree with what melanie said about it everything comes together to form something. With somethings no one knows what they are or anything its just the opion of the person who did it they could be the only one knowing what it is.
In a very literal way this picture look like a sky to me. There are houses below. There is a sun,a cloud, and a lighting bolt. To me it looks like it may be looking into another world or relm.
i think this picture is sorta hard to understand on what exactly to think. and i agree with Melanie when she said it looked like just a bunch of things clumped together, and how Mythology is just kinda that way. soemthing always happens causing chaos which in the end creates "peace". i think the person who thought of this picture might be the only one who knows what it means and they left it that way so everyone could have their own opinion on it..
I think that teh image clashes with its title. Iit is not the easiest thing to understand, but it kinda looks like a piece of pizza lol... maybe i am just hungry. But it blends together so well, it works like a pizza. There is the background, the vibrant yellow which is bold and nuetral. Like cheese pizza, it sounds really good right now but not that interesting. Besides pizza it also reminds me of the world, bold, vibrant, doing its own thing. The picture does not seem to conform to any special person or thing, but do its own thing, causing chaos and stiring curiosity in the world.
I agree with Melanie on the prospect that it may have been misnamed, while it is complex it also speaks for its self through the observer. How we interpret it is how it is, the artist is that, and artist. Someone who creates something for them self or others so that the observer can decide for themselves, making their own decisions, and their own lives theirs
This picture is hard for me to decide what it is about. The first thing that I noticed was a whole bunch of random shapes all coming together to mean something. Next I noticed a snake, which was in the Christian myth. I think that the center circle represents the sun and the beginning of the world. The title "Quiet Harmony" tells me that the author wants to show how all of these seemingly random shapes come together to create a piece of art. This shows how there were multiple steps to the creation of the earth, and without any one of them, the world would not be complete. Everything has to work in harmony to create something amazing.
I agree with Melanie when she mentioned that in Greek mythology, everything came from Chaos. I thought this was a very good point and an interesting way of seeing this picture that I had not thought of before seeing her comment. The picture looks like Chaos upon initial examination, but then it has some details when you look a little closer. Everything in this picture comes together to create a piece of art that is unique and requires some thought to decipher what it means. I don't think anyone except the artist can know exactly what it means and it can mean different things to different people which is a cool quality. All of the elements of the picture come together to work in Harmony, which is similar to how the world works.
I agree with most of these posts. A lot of people have commented that maybe only the creator knows what this is supposed to represent, and he or she has left it open to interpretation. As Miranda said, I see the house, and the lightning bolt. As Katie said, I see the snake and the sun. Maybe the point of this picture isn't to try and figure out what the greater meaning is. Some things are beautiful just by existing, and though this work of art may seem like nonsense, it is truly a thing of great skill and beauty. In a way, this picture can represent life, and myth in general. Like we talked about in class, you have to hold on to the ideas loosely, or else they will get away from you.
This picture reminds me of the Ganda tirbe. The Ganda tribe has very colorful clothing, and this picture is very colorful. This picture also reminds me of how unique different tribes can be. This painting also can represent creation. I see the earth on the bottom portion of the painting then I see the whole universe above the earth. I see different planets and the sun and the moon. IN the bottom right corner of the painting I see a hand. It's like God's hand creating the earth.
in response to Katie... I like how Katie noticed the snake and said that it is part of the christian story. I didn't think of that. I also like how she said that "everything has to work in harmony to create something amaizing."
I think this picture is hard to talk about because it is just different objects put together. It looks like a piece of pizza. i see the snake at the bottom and the sun above. I like how it id reall colorful, and just little things put together to make some kind og picture like in life, the little things in life matter, and in the end make up something bigger and more important
posting from katie and sams. I agree with what katie said about the snake. the snake is in the christain story. she also said that she saw the sun. I also agree with what sam said about it beging a pizza. this is a hard picute to write about, but I do like all the colors.
This picture is kind of confusing in some ways, its very abstract. Your tring to look at many things at one time. Once you settle down and start to look at specific objects and colors, the painting makes alittle more since. Though the name of the picture is "Quiet Harmony", nothing i see in it is quiet at all. Some parts are just random and others go together very well. The bright colors and shapes make it a very good piece of art.
I agree with Sam who agrees with Melanie, this picture could represent mythology and how to some it makes absolutly no sence but to others people could get a creation story from one piece of artwork. Also to coment on Sam Ny's blog with the whole pizza thing, even though i doubt that the creator was thinking of food at the moment, after i read her blog i'm really wanting pizza now. With that i do agree that art is in the eye of the beholder and can be interpreted in many ways.
i agree with Melanie, The title quite harmony is a bit funny to me seeing how the picture is so busy and full of life. Hamory is achieved because everything flows together and it makes the image beautiful miranda
This picture is deep. I'm not sure what's going on with it, however I do love the vibrant colors used thoughout the piece, there are many geometric shapes used in this piece also. "Quiet Harmony?" interesting choice for a title considering I don't find this piece to be very quiet. I have know clue where I would put artwork such as this in my house.
Well i think that the title of the artwork, and the actual artwork acutally work together. THis makes me think about life. How simple it can be, yet how complicated and confusing it can grow into in a very little time. Like the really simple background, and shapes, but the actual compostition is quite busy, and everywhere ..... but I also realize that the triangle in the center can symbolize Harmony in itself. Through all the craziness, and confusion of life, we can find harmony, and peace.
I agree with Ashley, I would have absolutely no idea where to put this in my house either. Maybe opposite from the toliet, and make people think about it while doing their "stuff" .... =) You know great ideas have come together there....but
This picture is a very absract example of art. It reminds me of a very ordered form of chaos that was described in the greek creation story. The simple goemtric shapes with overlaping and vibrant colors show many things. One of those thigns happens to be the effect that such simple designs can have on the way the eye views things. In my mind I see that the piece is trying to show the fluid motion of something along with the stationary positions of others. It reminds me of life, a life in which some things change and will always change and can flow easily into another thing. The stationary objects represent things like life, air, water, and space, all of those things are and always will be, they are stationary.
I agree with Ettje. The idea of finding peace and harmony within a world of chaos and disorder is almost exactly what I thought when I looked at it. I feel like when everything is all "discombobulated" we can still find the solid, and common objects in everyday life. All I can say is that her ideas of peace and harmony in the world of doom and gloom is completely agreeable. And speaking of agreeable...I agree with Ettje...her views and mine are alike, atleast when it comes to this particular painting.
This picture reminds me of happiness and peace like how the Navajos liked to live. it also just seems like it would be the kind of clothing and patterns the Navajo people would have worn. It has a really natural look to it but at the same time it reminds me of war paint.
this picture seems to show a kite flying in the sky but and like what Dylan said it also reminds me of peace and tranquility like how the Navajos liked to live their live. i also agree with bandon that even in a world of chaos they were able to find peace.
Like what dylan and brandon said the navajo had to try and find peace and tranquility in a world filled with chaos and this picture also represents to me peace and love like how the navajo liked to live.
